Kendra Huizinga, M.A provides therapy services for children, adolescents, adults, and families. She graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in trauma and crisis intervention from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She has experience working in a variety of hospitalization programs and community-based services for children, teens and young adults. Her areas of interest and specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), school related problems, behavior management, parent training, self-esteem issues, social skills, bereavement, and life transitions. She offers a non-judgmental, warm, supportive, collaborative, and client-centered environment. This allows clients to grow and explore their strengths and values, as well as gain skills to overcome obstacles in order to lead more meaningful and fulfilling lives. Her therapeutic style incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) which allows her to customize treatment plans to each individual. She understands that therapy can be intimidating and as a result will work diligently with her clients and their families, schools, physicians, and other members of the client’s community to provide support and consistency while respecting where they are in the therapeutic process.
